Dave most of the work I have seen done with wax rounds has been done with small shot sizes, like say 6 shot. The way smaller shot stacks closely together makes it a lot easier to hold together. So any thing you can come up with as a smaller improvised shot may help. Or heck just carry some actual shot. It is also quite multipurpose.

@WeaponX831 In an absolute last ditch effort I don't see why not, but that is as a last ditch effort only man. Sending stone through a barrel would chew it up quicker than a fucked up private at basic training.

The wax/bb slug is something I will use because slugs are so expensive. Thanks.

WHy would you do this? Why not just make a wax slug like normal?

I have used hard wood slugs for years. Usually maple or oak. I basically creat a wood Minne Ball, harden up the business end. Place it into the shell with a patch and cover with tallo/beeswax/candle wax and shoot as regular.

Rolling a phatty...
Dave , try adding the BB's to the pot when melting the wax. Then then just spoon them over to the shell. warm metal will not harden the wax as fast as we say in the video.

This might be crazy, but considering the relative availability of river pebbles and the fact you wouldn't be using your supplies. I guess the question is, would it be possible to substitute tiny pebbles in the wax slug configuration? Obviously not the best long term solution, but in an emergency, because shot and lead run out sooner or later.
