http://www.pbs.org/frontline/collegeinc FRONTLINE goes inside the business of higher education and asks "Who's profiting from your education?" in "College, Inc.," airing Tuesday, May 4 at 9PM on PBS (check local listings).

The business of higher education is booming. It's a $400 billion industry fueled by taxpayer money. But what are students getting out of the deal? Critics say a worthless degree and a mountain of debt. Investors insist they're innovators, widening access to education. FRONTLINE follows the money to uncover how Wall Street and a new breed of for-profit universities are transforming the way we think about college in America. Watch "College, Inc." on air and online beginning Tuesday, May 4 on PBS (check local listings) and at http://www.pbs.org/frontline/collegeinc

  • I think my accounting teacher put it best to what degrees stand for.

    BS= Bull Shit

    MS= More of the Same

    Phd= Piled higher and deeper

  • Most Americans haven't taken education seriously since the mid-1960s. This Frontline documentary comes as no surprise to me.

  • @cheezbag and a GED is Good Enough Diploma lol

  • @1991Avega Go to a state school. You'll save a lot of money and won't get laughed out of a job interview. Also, go for something useful, something you can actually get a job with.

  • @raoulhery No, the universities want to make the money. It costs too much for them to change with the times, but k-12 was put together by the Rockfellers to makes us mindless worker drones. Private education at home and working under a skilled person is the best education.

  • Public Universities like UT Austin pull the same horse-crap for a lot of their academic programs. Outside of accounting and engineering you will have a crap degree.

  • @raoulhery Knowledge is more accessible in libraries and online.

  • Its a shame! why education have higher cost? it's like richer people doesnt want poor kid to have access to knowledge

  • This was a great documentary. Shows whats behind those commercials we all see.

  • They hire used car salesmen as "Counselors."

  • @1991Avega You should really look at your options before you spend even more on a degree at Devry.

  • Netflix! I saw this on Netflix!
