True story - Coach Bryant was once asked to donate $10 to help cover the funeral of a recently deceased local sports reporter. Bryant famously reached into his wallet, pulled out a bill, and said, "Here's a twenty, bury two."
Did you ever get the feeling Coach Bryant didn't care much for talking to reporters before the half (in the middle of the game)? Can't say I blame him.
@fuxwitme87 He didn't retire because he was forced. I remember the '82 season like it was yesterday and how everything caved in that November after the Tide won the first five games and was ranked No. 2 in the nation at one point. He saw the handwriting on the wall, not just concerning the program, but he was in worse health than people realized. Had he stayed in it another year and not died, it would have been a statewide controversy because of the mandatory age of 70.
Anybody want to venture a guess as to what the Bear was saying as he was leaving? Here's mine: get a real job, you little....

I still can't believe we forced him to retire because of his age. He would of probably lived a few more years had we not made him retire.
