Questions I'm sure people will ask:
q. Is this necessary?
a. No, it isn't. You can also just plug in your iPod Touch (which, if you do it too many times, will KILL your battery). This can also be done by just playing some music.

q. Will this effect performance?
a. YES (if you are using an iPhone, iPhone 3g, iPod Touch, or iPod touch 2G). The newer models won't be affected too much). Well, normal operations will work fine, but certain third-party apps may be a bit slower. The iPod/music app uses a surprising amount of RAM. I have a ram checking app, and when I do this, I only have 6 megabytes of ram left. So games and such won't go smoothly, and the animations that the iPhone uses will probably be more jittery.

q. how is battery life affected?
a. it will affect the battery life. I barely use mine around the house, and it's already showing signs of battery drainage. So it will affect battery.

q. What if I want to listen to other music, or watch a video, ect?
a. Well, music does the exact same thing. As long as music is playing, your iPod Touch/iPhone will not disconnect from the internet. So it really doesn't matter. If a video or something else stops this from playing, just start it again (you can tell if it's working by the little play symbol next to the battery ON THE HOME SCREEN. Videos will show this as well, but that's indicating that the video is playing. The video will stop the music from playing.)

  • i hate that when im downloading an app and its nearly finished when i loose connection so annoying

  • @EriCesC1 Yeah that's just the nature of the iPod Touch. This probably won't solve it completely. But yeah it's a nice little thing to do.

But I don't recommend doing this on a 2nd gen or a 3G iPhone running 4.0. Your battery and performance will just go away.

  • Cool, is that a 2g ipod? Btw, is it a good idea to jailbreak an ipod?

  • @Navineous1 Yea it's a 2g and I say don't jailbreak
