Mid-term Video Game Scoring assignment - get handed a cutscene clip from an existing video game, compose a score for cutscene. And Falk gets to do Black Ops. What a surprise!

An Electronic Production & Design major does the FX/Foley/Dialogue work, so this is part of a collaborative effort.

High(er) quality audio-only stream - http://soundcloud.com/falk-2/redemption

Considering I'm a Music Production & Engineering and Film Scoring dual major, this is maybe the first thing on the demo reel that reflects that and not nonstop electronica. :P

Based on the rails scene leading up to and including the briefing of the final mission, "Redemption" in Black Ops. Could also be a subliminal message depending on your opinion of the game and/or soundtrack. :P

I decided to go with a more Infinity Ward than Treyarch approach for this, while not going too heavy on the electronic side of things (since the game is technically supposed to be 60's...)

Drums - Arthur Kam
Conga - Akash Thakkar
Guitars - Ian Charlie Chong
Bass - K M Au Yeong

Composed, orchestrated, produced, mixed and mastered by K M Au Yeong

Recorded at Berklee Film Scoring Studios.

  • oh so you composed this music? really confusing when reading the description

  • @marklaisa Yes

  • i'm just wondering, what course in college gives you a video game scoring assignment? I want to go there haha

  • @azuritereaction Studying at Berklee College of Music - the actual course is a semi-elective called Interactive Video Game Scoring. My lecturer is boss; he did the XBOX 360 logo jingle.

  • @baldfalk holy crap, hahaha that's a pretty awesome thing to claim rights to creating :)

Looking up where you live though, I'm not surprised they have something this creative there, you guys are quickly becoming a really creative place (you have been for a long while actually), moreso than the USA for sure haha

It's not a video game, but I made a video using video game music set to real life video, so it's sort of the reverse of this: if you wanna see it, search "azuritereaction motivation" :)

  • @azuritereaction I'm uh

    In USA

    sup

    hahaha

see all

  • So, was the part with the glasses intended to be goofy, or was that just a by-product of the rest?

    In any case, great work.

  • I have a friend who went to Berklee, He's a Tuba player :) Great music, sounds awesome.

  • this was pretty awesome, some sections reminded me of Harry Gregson-Williams' work on MGS

  • I really liked that music, kinda James Bondish :) Good work.
