"Tadok Speay Yeam"by Sinn Si Samouth with the many different features of the famous Cambodian 70s actress VICHARA DANY.
Tith Dany, born 1948 in Phnom Penh to Tith Sarim and Ok Son, was a widely popular actress in Cambodia who made her debut in the 1967 film "Picheyvongsa." She starred in the majority of films in Cambodia from 1967 through 1975 during the nation's golden age of cinema. She was often paired on screen with fellow actor Kong Sam Eun. Other notable actors she starred with were Cambodian heart throbs Chea Yuthorn and Vann Vannak. In only a span of at least seven years she is credited to have starred in over one hundred films; 121 to be exact and 63 of which she starred alongside Kong Som Eun who was the leading actor of the 70s. Details of her life are relatively unknown although it is sure that she perished shortly after the Khmer Rouge take over in 1975.
Information on Vicharaday can be found on wikipedia or Moyoura's blog about Vicharadany

  • who is the music you used for this?? it's amazing.

  • Hi Offbeatstudio. This is a song called Tadok Speay Yeam from the 1960s. Sinn Sisamouth is the singer of this song.

  • Love her!....oh btw i think you messed up the date at the end 2:13....1967-1974?

  • lol, wow, then I'll be way off, haha. I did make a video for the years Khmer stars were born and when they were active, II put down 1950 for the year Vichara Dany was born, It seems right but I could be wrong. Do you have a clue for the year she was born?

  • She was born around the same time as Ros Serey Sothea so the 1950s would be an accurate estimation. But unlike Sothea, Vichara Dany is not known to have any surviving relatives sadly.

  • Cambodians who were born during the late 50s and early 60s would've been our movie stars of the late 70s and early eighties. So sad, they didn't get their time to shine because of the KR regime and the eighties was basically a whole decade devoted to politics.

  • Vichara Dany was executed in 1978. She was in the same camp as my mother. She was short, light skinned and very beautiful. She was forced to marry a khmer rouge cadre. She could have survived, but too many Khmer Rouge were fighting over her. So they decided to get ride of her because she caused too much commotion. Wikepedia stated that she escaped during the vietnamese invasion and died of child birth, not sure if this is true. Anyway, its very Sad, but her legacy does live on..

  • I dont know much about the oldy actresses, but i think DesaVate still a lives she is in her late 60's now. They all seemed to be at the same ages ranges. So if they all still a lives today, they have to be in their late 60's now. Therefore, they have to be born in the 50's I think, I also was 8yr old Khmer Rouge tolk place.

  • Wow,what an Angel!

  • siemreap791,

i'm glad you're of today's generation & you like oldy movies & actresses, & amazingly you dislike the present ones.

you know what, i aint like almost all of the new ones. but at the same time i believe that, as the oldies are fadin' away or gone, there must be the new ones.

yeah yeah we sometimes have 2 remind the new ones that the oldies are still better.

  • @pkving i am from today's generation but i love watching and growing up watch khmer old movies. my grandmother says the same kim nova is beautiful. im a fan of vichara dany too, but then compare to these young pop karaoke stars todays generation, they are nothing compare to the old beauties. i actually don't like these young stars, sorry to say that, they can't act, too muck makeup. The actresses back in the old days are natural beauty

  • yeah yeah vichara dany was beautiful, & so were som van sook sou dany, dy saveth (still is), darak vira, etc, even the singer non-actress ruos serey sothea. however the most beautiful of them all was kim nova.

2 those of you who're backward un-educated racist putz, kim nova wasnt a vietnamese. her father was 1/2 khmer 1/2 vietnamese, her mother was 1/3 khmer 1/3 chinese 1/3 vietnamese.

even if she were a pure vietnamese, then what?? if you live in the us, you're not white, then what??

  • Vicharadany was born 12/33/2010

  • Yes, someone said Vicharadany was born in 1950.

  • I still think she was not much older than I was when she first starred in the movie, a few years older probably , she started in the late 60's or early 70's. Ros Serey Sothea was much older than Vichara Dany. she was only 18 when she started. Yes, Ros Serey sotheas was from Battambong also, she sang at Stung Kiev "Blue River" Battambang before she was famous, and I think I remember that time. So your mom used to live in Battambong? I remember Pen Rorn used to go to school at Psa Leu.
