LONG LIVE GREECE AND ISRAEL!!!
Yia sou and Shalom!
-
YASOU means hello in greek -more specifically 'to your health' we also use something similar when we make a toast.
OPA is more like a ..sound that gives courage to the dancers or the rest of the ppl so they can continue to party on, or whatever they are doing at the time.We also use it instead of 'halt' in greek slang.

GREECE ISRAEL CYPRUS FRIENDSHIP <3

@kingsammythecat Ummm... I do not make common mistakes when it comes to greek language. "Υassou" (2nd person singular) the "hello" wish, and "yassou", or "yamas" (1st person plural), the drinking wish, are derived from the exact same phrase: "Health to you/us" (Υγεία σε σένα/εμάς)
-
@TrustMeIAmADoctor thats a common mistake, its from "stin ygia (pronounced iya) sou which sounds like yasou!
-
@kingsammythecat "Yassou", for "hello", also means "to your health"! :-)
-
@Endevide yasou is the equivalent of the hebrew l'chaim, its "stin ygeia sou" which means to your health as you said but it comes at sounding like yasou which means hello.
