Great footage. I was going to buy this cam origianlly, but it ended up out of my budget so I bought the HVR-A1U. But now I am looking into getting the Z1U.

Thank you! This was shot with the V1U/1. The Z1 is a little faster (asa wise) but doesn't have the true 24 &30p capability. So you have to decide weather you are shooting guerilla style or if you have time to light your shot. Both look great under well lite situations. The ex is a lot faster

I only shot with the 100a once but it is a little bit faster (not by much) in the dark and from what I've seen looks good. I had to keep with a camera that would give me HD to tape since I'm freelance and need to be able to hand off a tape. Since only some producers come with the ability to download footage (but that to is changing). Plus I hate the fact that they still cost so much for a 10min load. But if you can go totally tapeless look at the Sony ex.

I really like either the ex1 or ex3. They can shoot much faster (closer to 320asa). I'm not as up on the Panasonic types that are as comparable but I'm kind of a Sony guy. Hope that helps.

Z1u is fine as long as you don't want to shoot progressive (Z1's film look setting sucks in my opinion). But the trade out is the lens is faster than the V1, seems to be coming out at around 160 IE to 20 IE (asa) which means grain or more care in lighting night stuff. So if your shooting run and gun or not trying to knock down the hard edge transfer your fine.
