Thumbs Down?

Why does a thumbs down seem to carry so much more weight than a thumbs up? What does our reaction say about us? Can a thumbs down ever be helpful (whatever you call it)? Is it ever valid to thumbs down without comment? Is it fair to thumbs down the video of someone who has blocked you? What do you think the most valuable response to getting them is? And various other questions.

I'm noticing thumbs down on my few videos. Its really annoying when hours and hours and hours and hours of my time has been put into making them, and I think I make good quality videos. So a thumbs down for no reason annoys me! YouTube should only allow thumbs down when they post why.

@devonbiker I agree. I have one person thumbs downing every single one of my videos. This makes it pretty meaningless, other than to tell me they make the effort to find them, that they don't like me rather than my videos, but I have no idea why. I think perhaps the best way to see it is you've had an impact on them. If people are too cowardlly to express their thoughts it's their loss.

We just have to remember that we don't all think alike, and some minds are unfortunately, definitely defective.

Many like to leave comments for no other purpose than to create drama, to feel they have made an impact without actually having to think at all.

I wouldn't be surprised to find many of these people are quite young in age, or of a somewhat limited intellect.

@Projoiner1 I'm sure you're right. It seems to me the system here is set up to actually encourage such behaviour by allowing invisibility and no responsibility for ones actions beyond breaking copyright. As individuals none of us appear to have any protection.

@L Well if I were to carry the metaphor into RL...then, trying to turn it into a smile, would certainly change things.

I'm finding that seems to be something I'm working on...how to get people to feel 'okay' or glad after talking to me. But I can't get obsessed always thinking about winning others' approval...and yet that skill is something that's a challenge for me.

@Loreleila Hi... Um, that Up-then-Down thing might work, when y'do both on the same visit ; but, once departed the Clip, then the Die appears to stay Cast..(?). As it happened, today I uploaded a Poem which used to Busk very well (every donation is a Like !) ; & I'm chastened to find 0 Likes, & 2 Dis's, by Sundown... I even shot it by a Waterhole, for the Waltzing Matilda-Effect. But, it IS strong Medicine for Sheep Fanciers... On 'Australia Day', Invasion Day, Reconciliation Day..!

Yes, I often thumb things up if I think my contacts might be interested now it shows up in the feed.
