Every experience we have is a chance to learn a lesson and National Fearless Day was no exception.

I learned a lot about Richard Branson and Virgin Mobile while competing to be the Most Fearless Canadian. The whole event was a disappointment and I ultimately become completely disillusioned with a person I thought to be a hero.

  • anintals,

You claim that 'any idiot' would know the difference between fear & disgust, but Virgin clearly didn't understand the difference as they put something 'disgusting' into a contest of fearlessness, that was the point we were making there.

As for the snakes & worms, if you talk to any entomologist or herpetologist I am sure they will tell you that every creature has a different reaction to stimulus and not one of them wants to be killed. It is a simple concept of respect for life. :)

  • Also, no we have not talked to the snake handler, we have had a discussion with the host of the event and someone from Virgin about the snakes though!

  • Phrigmeat!

"These worms are generally used as food for other creatures, but that is a part of the circle of life. Much as a meat eater would ideally prefer to eat a free run chicken who had been well cared for, these worms deserve respect and care even if they will ultimately be nourishment for another creature." - Our video

We believe in the circle of life, but we believe that the way the worms were treated in life was wrong and a pointless death is not the same as being nourishment! :)

  • Kenny, you care about keeping squids on your head or staying in haunted houses and we care about the lives of worms. Everyone has something they care about. It's all relative really! :)

safespot69 - Thanks for the support!

tualmU - Thanks! You too can stand up for what you believe in - it is not that hard, just do it!

genericfellow & codepoet - Thanks for the awesome points!

  • We wanted to make a point about an event that affected us. Think of it like a news show or an animal planet show. We choose worms and snakes because we happened to be there and we care about all life, no matter how small.

We are happy that you care about the elderly & litter and would be happy to watch a video you make about those things!

We do not think killing creatures for entertainment is good, but that is just our opinion. Just as you are entitled to your opinion, so are we.

  • Thank you so much for your comment urizen2000! After years of wanting to meet Richard Branson it was interesting to see behind the curtain and get a glimpse past, as you say the glitz and into the reality of the situation. We would be happy if you would put it on your FB, the more people who see it the more likely it is to get to the attention of Richard Branson himself!

  • A cure for cancer would be nice, but there is potential in all life.

Every creature has an effect on the world, large or small. The fact we can build cars and solve math equations makes us no more noble than a worm or snake and our impact no more important.

Some of the smallest creatures on earth have the greatest impact. Viruses and bacteria virtually control our lives and plankton controls the ocean's ecosystem.

There is nothing noble about a waste of life. No matter how small.

  • Sounds like "Jordan" derived some nourishment from the grubs. That is no different than a lizard eating one. Infact even in the competition there were a few fellows who went up on stage and ate some of the worms.

The difference is a loss of life in a wasteful fashion.

The trees do not need to be hugged, but they also shouldn't be cut down and burned for no reason.

  • Very hard for others to live up to our high expectations of what we believe them to be like.

  • Aren't you just AWESOME.

It's these videos that I wish was on the top videos list.

  • Y are you comparing fear and discust. Of course they have different meanings. What idiot would think they mean the same thing?!?

I think it's sad that you fail to see the bigger picture. Suuuure RB is trying to save the world but he killed sum unemotional maggots. Also, snakes don't possess the ability to be afraid or scared.

  • Phrigmeat...

As to Star being a worm eater - that really doesn't change her message. Life is life, be it blade of grass, worm, or human. It sucks that we have to take life to live at all but it is unfortunately necessary.

Sure, you may think that tossing worms into a crowd to be crushed or starved (if they escaped the dance floor) is no big deal, but as a result of Stars actions, Virgin is now donating money to wildlife!

Just as if they had been eaten, their lives now made a difference!

  • I have a question.

I'm trying to figure out how offering me a thai curry deep-fried cricket is consistent with your passion in defending the lives of the wax worms. You carry with you a small container filled with fried insects to eat. This seems incongruent to me, considering the passion with which you feel in defending the lives of insects. Could you help me understand that?

Also, did you speak with the snake's handler about your concerns?

    Thanks.

  • One cannot build bridges while slinging flaming arrows at those on the other side.

  • I dunnoooooo I saw her munching them backstage as I won the whole competition!
