Nancy Sathre-Vogel is the mother to Family on Bikes. After 21 years of classroom teaching, she and her husband decided life was too short to live the life of others. The family of four began a 17,300 mile bicycle journey from Alaska to Argentina which spanned nearly three years and fifteen countries.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. Good job Nancy! Such truth! I was so afraid last fall when we began the 500 mi. walk from St.Jean-Pied-de-Port, France,through the Pyrenees, and across northern Spain to Santiago de Compostela. Right in the beginning, i wanted to quit. In the Pyrenees the weather deteriorated, could not see well, the trail was slick and very steep, my knees hurt. My husband told me to "change my attitude"! So, I put 1 foot in front of the other. 38 days later of just doing that, I made it to Santiago. Thanks.
