My friend and I wanted to have a nice cup of espresso after dinner. I was taking my mobile to take a video of his coffee machine as there was leaking some coffee onto the hot plate. And suddenly it explodes! It took us two hours to tidy up the whole mess! The kitchen looked like having thrown a hand granade into it! His girlfriend was not amused... ;-)

  • This happened to us yesterday. The cause: After disassembling the pot, I forgot to put back the perforated disk that is sealed with the O-ring. After about 5 minutes of heating, the pot exploded and the kitchen was covered in coffee ground shrapnel. It took us all morning to clean up, and days later there were still grounds. The lesson is to be very careful in putting the pieces back after cleaning. Or, simple avoid cleaning it :-)

  • @gronki1 hi cheers, i found out what caused it, it was the rubber ring that was not seated properly, it had been put in incorrectly.

    thanks though

  • @jaspervincent It was probably because of poor grind quality or too fine grinding. Cheap grinders produce lot of "coffee dust" with may cause your coffe maker to clog. But even if you have a good quality grinder and this happens, it's because your coffee was ground too fine. You should set your grinder to more coarse grind.

  • You are doing it wrong. There are two things that will make a Bialleti Brikka machine explode like that, at least two that I know of. You are either packing the coffee in too tight or you using too fine a grind on the coffee. I had explosions when I used fine grind but haven't since I grind it medium.

These are great little machines, and the coffee they make is always better than what you get at Starbucks, but they are only as good as you are at operating them.

  • @burtonrules123 What happens here has nothing to do with the danger of heating liquids in the microwave. Here, it's just a violent pressure buildup. In the microwave, liquids can be heated above boiling temperature and suddenly evaporate into hot steam. Google "superheating".

  • @sne3646 I want to claim, you went to a lawyer? let me Know please, thank you

  • @emozione79 this coffeepots are not suppose to be in the market..did you claim?

  • @sne3646 did you claim, went to a lawyer? please let me know, this just happened to me!!

  • Dude you don't press coffee in the moka! Coffee is pressed only in the espresso machine.

  • OMG, you've invented the espresso rocket. Fantastic.
