  • Alright mate i have got basically the same set up of engine as u but got a set of cbr 1000 carbs and the engine runs but the carbs sliders won carbs 2 and 3 dont go up and down but 1 and 2 do ? ive got the vacuum for the sliders on number 2 and the vacuum for the brake servo on 3 but they dont seam to be opening and the car will only run on cylinders 1 and 2 can u help me as ive heard you have done a few cars but using r1 carbs. Also im running a r1 fuel pump cheers jamie

  • @reidybmx28

Why do the sliders need a vacuum feed?,I'm not up to speed on your carbs, you could try disconnecting this?

  • Hi did u get a custom made inlet with a the heater pipe connections and a brake vacuum pipe?

  • @reidybmx28 Yes, I have them made for me,all the connections are added after fabrication

  • so with r1 carbs, what exactly do you needto run this? cams? remap?

  • metro gti ftw

  • Fine if it is mechanical project, but 15-20BHP gain is not worth doing for the total costs involved. You would be better saving your money for a car with a bigger engine. Once you push things outside the tolerance levels it starts causing problems and you see lots of little things happening before the engine fails. In some the gearbox gives up.

  • Alright mate ive brought some R1 carbs now could you tell me what size the jets have to be for a standard cam 1.6 8v engine thanks

  • yeah the carbs are complicated the design of the carbs is the vacuum is mounted on the inlet and prodices a vacuum but i wuldnt mind nowing what is the benefits of havin r1 carbs over say my cbr carbs? and where could i get some from for fairly cheap price? cheers jamie

  • it's complicated if im honest with you. im tempted of gettin rid and purchasing r1 carbs can u telkl me where i could get a set from for cheap price and whats is rth benefits for them over say my cbr carbs? cheers

  • what power is the car putting out roughly mate?
