  • @henry5h5 Being a devotee of St. Francis of Assisi (who wrote these words), I have to come to his defense here that he in fact wouldn't have been thinking that (if I'm judging the use of the word "liberal" rightly) when he wrote this. It is an invitation for sure for everyone and everything to praise God, but that's something we're called to enter into through a repentance and acceptance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was put to music initially by 17th century Jesuits, who I think agree.

  • Good job

  • this is a was realy great...superb

  • Well done! But you left out: "And all ye men of tender heart, forgiving others take your part, O sing ye, alleluia! Ye who long pain and sorrow bear, praise God and on Him cast your cares." The emphasis in this hymn and in these verses in particular is on the word "ALL". Everyone is part of God's creation. welcome and valued. It is a song fully reflective of Jesus' ministry, about a liberal, inclusive faith. And it is one of the reasons why, I think, it is our greatest hymn. HENRY.
