The Water Mill at Wilsons & Co (Sharrow) Ltd in Sheffield was used to power two floors of pestle & mortars where tobacco leaves were ground down to create snuff.
The company has been in existence since 1737 and today manufactures snuff that is distributed and sold around the globe.
A "blast from the past". Living nearby in the 1940s we played in the field opposite Wilson's Snuff Mill.
Another Wilson, Terence.
