many of the Police songs performed on the broken music tour are the same arrangements used on the reunion tour and I wonder if it was actually planned out so sting would relearn the songs again?

Sounds like the musak version of the Police song. No matter how many great musicians Sting hires, he is still the lead singer of the POLICE... Stu, Andy, Sting. Period.
