RX-7 engine start

Car had an engine fire in the past.I had the engine rebuilt with Jeff from Rotary Power USA.The coolant reservoir (which i haven't replaced yet)is the burned plastic you see on the left side of the engine bay.

I say, i am about to own an FD, is it necessary to rebuild the engine from time to time?

If you have never owned a RX7 or don't know much about rotary engines then i would strongly suggest you get someone with experience on these engines to check it out for you.Also if the car has high mileage then make sure if the owner has had its engine rebuilt.Depending on how you maintain and drive the car a rotary engine could last you anywhere from 5,000 miles to 100,000 miles and the rebuilds on these engines don't come cheap.I paid $5300 for a basic rebuilt at Rotary Power USA

My RX7's JDM 1993 Engine sound different from the usual 13B Rotary?!

sounds similar to the 20B!

Are there different types of 13Bs? is this sound normal for the engine?
