  • thanks, i'm considering brazing similar profiles on a 4mm aluminum sheet. Does the process have any effect on the surface on the rear side? The sheet is already anodized, so i'm wondering if I could retain the surface finish on the opposite side.

    please advise :)

  • @valordk you would have to score the annodizing off on the side you want to braze

  • Can it be used to weld aircraft aluminium (dur-aluminium)?

  • @kingoftheput i dont see why not ... it says it can be used with ANY aluminum

  • what type of torch would you recommend? And can a regular plumber's torch work?

  • @PropheciesofWar it was just a standard propane torch from Home Depot

  • looks like a good weld but it'll break easy and thats because you put your heat on your rod.....what you need to do is heat your work peace much higher then 200 and let the head of your work peace melt your rod then you wave your heat over your weld to smooth it out

  • What kind of brazing rod did you use to braze aluminum?

  • can this be used to repair a hole in an engine case where salt water has rotted it?

  • Keep the rod out of the flame when you lay a bead otherwise you're just melting the rod.

  • is this strong enough to repair a ladder .. will it penetrate the metal or will I risk having the weld break

  • @oldtilter

Yes, but the process is slightly different... Have to put alot of flux on the faces of the steel which you want to join, this will help the brass 'flow' or 'wet' into the joint better.

  • Would you get a similar result with Oxy-acetylene instead of propane? and is this process as strong as welding? i am building a work topper for my truck using 1/8" Alum for the frame THANK YOU!

  • Hi. I produce Low and hight temperature rod weld here in Brazil. The rod that you used isn't rod pure aluminium. The rod that you used also isn't durafix, alumaloy, hts 2000 or others low temperature rod welding because these rods melt at 400°C. Never you'll weld aluminium at 200° C. The Aluminium melting at 650°C never at 200°C. I think that you used PURE Sn rod weld. The Pure Sn melt at 200°C !!!!! I know all low and hight temperature rod weld of the world.

  • Can you do that with steel?

  • Ken's the man. he could build a terminator .
