@TPMTheDarkDragon True, I do MMA and I learn Muay Thai, BJJ, Submission Wrestling, Boxing and a bit of Dirty Boxing. They are the main ones

@Eatmybologna true but i an mma practioner won't have tae kwon do in his particular background...unless he's studied tae kwon do. that all i'm saying.
-
@allshallbelosttoyou No. MMA is a sport in which any martial art can take place as long as they abide by the rules of the promotion.

@Eatmybologna only includes tae-kwon do if the mma practioner had tae-kwon do in his backround.

@MrGarky impact on the sport when you look at the other martial arts involved. So, in essence, I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I disagree with the last sentence though where you said that MMA includes all martial arts. There are many martial arts that really are not present in MMA competition, at least to the best of my knowledge.

@MrGarky You're right. Let me rephrase my thoughts, because what I had previously written was incorrect. I still maintain that MMA is comprised MAINLY of Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, and Wrestling, I have to retract what I said about TKD not being involved. Spinning back kicks and spinning back fists do happen often, and you're right I have seen Joe Rogan talking about them and their relation to TKD. What I should have said is that TKD has had an important but comparatively small

@NekoJinRei Not true. Spinning back kicks and spinning back fists happen all the time, which come from TKD. Have you seen the video of GSP taking tips from Joe Rogan(TKD black belt) on his spinning back kick? TKD might not have the same influence as BJJ or Muay Thai, but MMA is MMA, and it includes all martial arts--TKD is no exception.

@Eatmybologna What he means if the modern definition of MMA, as in the sport which is mainly comprised of Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, and Wrestling. While in the old sense of the phrase, and the technical sense of the phrase, TKD would be included in MMA, it really doesn't have anything to do with the modern sport.
Cheers
MMA vs Taekwando? You realize MMA stands for Mixed Martial arts which includes Taekwando.

@NekoJinRei I think you are spot on. The modern term of MMA is in sports terms really BJJ, thai boxing, boxing and wrestling. Anytime i get to train in any mma gyms/studios near me, they mainlhy teach the above. My own understanding of MMA is all martial arts in the world as it means a mixture whilst the sport is narrowed down to what has been proven to be more efficient for the needs of the octagon, ring etc.
