Aussie Accent Pt1 Overview

This is part 1 of a series on Australian accents. It covers the basics, phonology, history, types and slang.

As you can probably tell I was reading off a sheet. Hey, the sunnies aren't just there for show! I largely did this video in response to the many clips on the Aussie out there. There wasn't one which was an overview of the accent so I decided to take on the task, being a bit of an accent buff.

Oh really, I spent my whole life in Perth but my parents were from SE Asia...just curious, how is it typical? When I go overseas people can immediately recognise it. Yeah it's a bit different in some ways...what stands out that is different to you?

Western Australian accent sounds like a 50% mix between the standard stereotype Australians accent and a central Londoner

The aussie accent your talking in right now is dying out rapidly. I live in Australia and I have rarely heard someone with the typical 'Paul Hogan' accent. The aussie accent has become more neutral.
