PC BASED SECURITY SYSTEM BOOT TIME, computer boots and records 8 cameras in less then a minute.

This is a PC I upgraded for someone.

I custom programmed this computer for a household security system, it can record 8 different cameras all at the same time 24 hours a day for about a week and a half(guesstimated time until a 320gig hard drive fills up and starts rewriting the oldest data first. That's 24/7 with the added option of remote viewing available.

This is a Gateway that started with these specs: 1.3ghz P4 @ 400 FSB, 128mb of RD-800 at 800 FSB, one 20 gig ultra ata 100 hard drive, one CD drive, one CRT monitor, one keyboard and mouse, 32mb video card, a 2.1 speaker system, and Windows 2000

Here are the current specs after I upgraded it: 2x Lorex 4 port video/audio capture cards, 1.3ghz P4 at 400 FSB, 1gig of RD-800 at 800FSB, one 20gig ultra ata 100, one 320gig ultra ata 133, one CD burner, one CD drive(soon to be one DVD burner, one LCD 14 inch wide, one 128mb video card, one keyboard and mouse, a 2.1 speaker system, and Windows XP pro 32-bit.

  • What kind of LCD monitor is that? Where can I get one? Looks great.

  • it's a gateway fpd1500, there are much better displays, check out a google search on samsung, you can see how much it cost at a site called newegg

  • did you ever think about using a server, instead of making it over write the oldest data?

  • lol, I did not think of that, however, the program requires a high speed connection, it's too bad that DSL is not available in that area. The only thing that is, is satellite, which would cost 300 US dollars for installation, and 50 bucks a month just for the service. I could buy 3 500 gig hard drive for that price. The owner would like to use the remote viewing option the program has, after he has enough money to pay for it, at which point I will consider what you said, I will look it up. Thanks

  • that computer screen is tiny what is it 12 inch?

  • 13.3 wide

  • man..i thought i had strict parents..but this..this is taking it to the next level

  • Thanks. I have a Viewsonic VA503b, probably the best 15" out there. But, I'm looking for a small desktop monitor with a higher resolution. I can get sxga+ on my dell 14" laptop screen, but the most you can get on a 15" desktop LCD is 1024 x 768. I could never understand that.

  • lol like 2 years ago i had that same computer

  • No problem. Just trying to make the world better for everyone :)
