You need soapy water otherwise there'd be residue build-up! Just rinsing the parts won't get them very clean.

i thought this is a joke! this kind of a juicer my grandma had , in the 70ties! now the juicer contains only 3 pieces to wash! disassemble in 10sec and rinse in 10sec :)

How very strange. Why do you need soapy water? I just rinse everything off of the parts (of a Champion) and air dry.
