I discovered this gem of a song by Peter Gabriel just this month, and gratefully that out of all the various divas having performed this duet with him, my first listening experience of it featured the incomparable voice of none-other-than Tracy Chapman; which is to say, alongside noting Peter's original authorship of the material in this video-clip, my performance similarly owes specific crediting to Tracy inasmuch as its vocal influence.
Nevertheless, I made significant alteration to the original rhythmic style of the composition which I found to be akwardly challenging insofar as coordinating both the vocal and intrumental rhymic patterns, whilst still in the process of learning the lyrics... and, for those who have no idea what I'm talking about, frankly I just can't resist 'skanking' up most any song I perform these days anyhow - I'd be itching all day to be able to jam out the song, and somehow the skank beat saved the day, naturally. I feel this song is quite fitting of such 'Africanisation' - let me know what y'all think...
Wow man.... you blew me away....excellent.
