7 String bass MYSTERY! I have owned this bass for a little while now, but know nothing about it. No markings except "Delano" on the bridge pick up. If you know anything or have any ideas, let me know! Post a comment or send me a message!

  • lol! is that a candlejack t-shirt?

how does that bass play, btw? i've always had a bit of doubt regarding that chap's work, at least as far as playability is concerned.

  • @flood81 No, it's an Oggy Boogie t from The Nightmare Before Christmas. As for the quality of the bass, personally I think it is pretty well made. It certainly looks the part. From all I have read (since learning it was an "Antoniotsai") his acoustic guitars are not worth concidering, but no-one seems to complain about his soild bodies. Keep in mind I only EVER use the Delano pup and that is aftermarket, and it did need some serious setting up when I got it. But it gets lots of attention.

  • @wan7000: ah, ok. thanks. i don't think i'll play a 7 anytime soon, i currently only own a 6 and have decided that i want to go back to 4 first. still, it's good to know in case GAS strikes and an antonio tsai bass shows up cheap.

i must have gotten lucky the last time re: t-shirt because nobody who uses Candlejack's name in a sentence can ever complete the s

  • @flood81 They are CHEAP basses for what they are. Brand new they are only like US $400 including shipping for a 7 string. I was looking and there are a couple on ebay right now. I kinda wanna buy another just so I can have 2, but I think I'll just save my pennies and buy a Conklin. I don't think there is any real point in owning 2 basses that are the same.

  • It's an Antoniotsai bass.

  • @wan7000 what a shame about the neck pu... contact Reinhard at Delano and get another one!! though for a 7 string you may be looking at $300-$400 a pop....

  • it's made in Korea from the Wolf Factory.

  • I already had a bass similar to this except it had very intricate inlays. I bought it from an inlay artist how's from Korea and I guess he gets these basses from a factory in the same country.

    Thanks!

    Tony

  • Did you figure out what thte brand was? It looks like a Ritter, but you would have had to pay a lot for one...

  • Hey.. Just wanted to make my own 7 stringed bass but i wasnt sure of the nut length, string spacing at the nut and at e bridge, distance frm bridge to nut e.t.c. Please could you help me out...

  • it looks a bit like a ritter bass

  • That bass is made by factories in Vietnam and Korea, it's not actually a brand bass whatsoever. Delano is great and that was put in afterwards. Check out a company that was around a few years ago called "Galveston" that also made extended range basses. They are a very similar company, if not the same. Unfortunately it's not a specific luthier or such, it's simply cheap labour. Enjoy the bass though :P

  • Not sure the company but its a Rotter Roya knock-off
