he is very smart, smarter than meyer. obviously edward is a very tragic character, and I hardly think that after a hundred years he's getting even the tiniest bit of a kick out of jumping high and running fast. clearly his existence is wholly tragic before bella comes along, and that is why he clings to her so much... I don't know, sometimes I think that Meyer wrote some very deep characters but she doesn't seem to have realized it... I mean, to her they are flatter than they really are...
