Rick Warren's Folly

I came across a quote by Rick Warren (and yes, I read it in context) that says he doesn't want to say anything one way or the other about the proposal in Uganda to imprison and execute gays. A pastor with no comment about something so horrific that even Republican congressmen condemn it (so it must be pretty bad!) Rick Warren is a political pastor; his devotion to goodness and right are called into question with this "no comment" statement. However, having been an evangelical most of my life, I know he probably doesn't think Uganda is considering anything bad. The bible wants all gays dead, and evangelicals worship the bible, so it doesn't take a great leap of logic to figure out where he stands on the matter. Maybe Warren wants to merge with Westboro Baptist, who knows? But what we do know is that silence in the face of evil is tantamount to complicity.

I am aware of his statement. It was a very PC thing to do. He might be taking over for Billy Graham as the pastor to the presidents, so let's not read too much into it. He's got to cover his backside like any good politico has to do.
