It's simple her doing the whistle register and belting out high notes for 20 yrs thats why. If you listen to Mariah speak her voice is deep and sometimes raspy those notes take a toll on you lol.

I heard that everyone at the Cannes Film Festival loved and were surprised that Mariah did a good job in Precious.
That's beautiful but not fair.
It's not fair for people to determine that she's not a good actor just from one role. There are so many people we love who have made some of the worst movies ever. We still love them as actors. I wish people would give her a chance and stop being so critical about one not so good role.
