Richard Dawkins believes sciences ability to admit ignorance is one of its greatest strengths. On the flip side, he proposes that faith remains arrogant and all too certain of its validity without any rational set of proofs.

Richard Dawkins is a British ethologist, evolutionary biologist and popular science author. He was formerly Professor for Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. He was voted Britain's leading public intellectual by readers of Prospect magazine and was named one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People" for 2007.

Dawkins came to prominence with his 1976 book "The Selfish Gene", which popularised the gene-centred view of evolution and introduced the term "meme". He is a prominent critic of creationism and intelligent design. In his 1986 book "The Blind Watchmaker", he argued against the watchmaker analogy, an argument for the existence of a supernatural creator based upon the complexity of living organisms. Instead, he described evolutionary processes as analogous to a blind watchmaker. He has since written several popular science books, and makes regular television and radio appearances, predominantly discussing these topics.

Dawkins is an atheist, secular humanist, sceptic, scientific rationalist, and supporter of the Brights movement. In his 2006 book "The God Delusion", he contends that a supernatural creator almost certainly does not exist and that faith qualifies as a delusion − as a fixed false belief.

  • According to the scientific sense of the word "theory", evolution is a theory.

According to the creationist sense of the word "theory", God is just a theory.

  • Religion needs more critics.

  • here ya go, how can it be that the male and the female both have precisely half of the genetic information it takes to create one or the other, how does evolution explain that? I guess way back then it was a he she

  • The Creationists say we should teach Creationism in schools because Evolution is "only a theory". Well, Germ Theory is also only a theory, so maybe we should teach that diseases are caused by demons and evil spirits, and medical schools should teach that leprosy can be cured by dipping a bird in blood and sprinkling it on the patient like it says in Leviticus 14:1-57.

" evolution they talk about the big bang "

WOW the ignorant creatard doesnt even know wwhat evolution is, what a surprise.

    Heres a point,

Every field of science proves your primative bronze aged story book wrong.

    CASE CLOSED!

  • he is such a jerk !!!

  • @darklumina13

Intelligent design isn't even a theory. It's not even a hypothesis.

  • @2Staccato3 Unfortunately, evolution is debated as a counter-part to intelligent design and rarely if ever has a theory that could co-exist with one another. Because of that, your comment about it only dealing with life's constant changing is only a small piece of the puzzle.

  • @ComputerScience54 Actually, it is considering that when people try to prove evolution they talk about the big bang followed by us originating from a single celled amoeba. After all, that is part of the reason why they want to find the Higgs Boson.. a remnant of that big bang that would give further evidence in that evolutionary chain, amongst other things.

If you have to make a snide remark to refute a point, you aren't much of a scientist.

  • I love his story about the scientist who found out he was wrong. But, I would like to stand up for those who have faith and are good. He blanket critices those of faith, when so many good people have faith. Faith doesn't have to mean fundamentalism or even religion. It can mean at its simplist, just hope. I wouldn't like to extinguish positive and good people of faith or simple hope from those who have it.

  • @HewettT2 He is barely a hypothesis
