question: do the chick and the dude die at the end of the movie, I mean at the beginning of the movie the convoy gets attacked by the aliens...

It would have been an amazing movie but the two actors we follow have some of the most bland characters I have seen in a while. The movie was great but the message is old and bland. Humans have been and always will be monsters, the movie hasn't said anything new, thought provoking, or inspiring. It could have thrown something new at us, but it failed to do so.

reminds me of Crash

One of the more... eloquent, movies Ive seen in quite a while. Rather low key, with a simple storyline to follow, but instead of those facts holding it back or detracting from the experience, the movie used what it represented to its advantage in an almost classy way.
Upon reaching the spectacle of the two aliens followed by the abrupt separation of the love interest culminate with this score and the credits, I knew the Movie Industry still has some belated gems to offer.

Wow, had a great Sunday night in watching Monsters, and realised at the end it was the music that was quietly making the film. LOVED the scene at the end with the two Monsters, and the score just made it all that bit more poignant.
Amazing effort for one guy with a small budget, really captured the road movie thru Mexico feel and the budding romance between the two leads.
Low key sci-fi that sneaks up on you and leaves you wishing they HADN'T gone back with the soldiers in the end. Brilliant.

Love this piece, totally captures the tone of the film, the last scene especially.

@789123456789 Okay, now THAT'S true. I just thought you thought it was more like a tits and explosion movie like Battle LA. In my view, it's sort of like Monsters if Monsters decided to have a few more suspense scenes. Not better or worse, just a wee bit different.
I loved this movie. Shame that the advertisements sold it as a monster invasion like District 9 or Battle L:A.
Take it for the Relationship Road Drama set in a scifi atmosphere, and you may love it like i did.

I thought it was a good movie, it made the humans look like the real monsters, even though the aliens were 100 metres tall. A bit more of a realistic situation, aliens are just living creatures trying to survive, not just trying destroy as the common cliche in most other movies seems to represent.
