Munkatch Rebbe at Torah Dedication

The Munkatcher Rebbe, Grand Rabbi Moshe Leib Rabinovich participates in a Torah dedication ceremony known as a "Hachnosas Sefer Torah". The Munkatch Hasidic dynasty, which stems from the Eastern European city of Munkacs (Mukachevo), Ukraine, was founded by the great Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech Spira. The Pre WW2 Rebbe was Rabbi Chaim Eluzar Spira, author of Minchas Eluzar. The sect is headed today by Grand Rebbe Moshe Yehuda Leib Rabinovich and is based in the Boro Park section of Brooklyn, NY and has branches throughout the world.

@BrooklynNotQueens: Hasids are Jews... but not necesserily all of them... Chabad's approach to Judaism is debatable but these Hungarian hasids are the most pious people in the world. They are not neturei karta and don't even want to be affiliated with them. They might be antizionist for humane reasons but many of them DON'T worship a moshiach like for example Chabad.

If you want to learn the Jewish heritage and religious rituals that were practiced 2000 years ago, then you must look at the Mizrahi Jews from Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Morocco, Iran etc. These Jews have history tracing back to the destruction of the temple. The history of Ashkanazi Jews in Europe is relatively new. About 800 years ago 97% of world Jewry lived in middle east. Even until mid 1700s, 70% of world Jewry were Mizrahi Jews.
