Extended preview for the feature length documentary "This Is What Love In Action Looks Like", due out in 2010. In the summer of 2005 a 16yo Memphis, TN wrote on his MySpace blog about his parents sending him to a "Fundamentalist Christian" program that claimed to offer "Freedom from homosexuality". What followed is a modern day message in a bottle, as teens in the local community stood up for their friend with daily protests which eventually grew to include a huge plethora of individuals demonstrating at the facility in what would become an international news story. The documentary features several former clients of the organization who tell their personal stories about the time they spent within the programs walls, including exclusive never before seen interviews with several teenagers who were forced into the "Refuge" program.

The documentaries producers intent was to show the passion and conviction of both sides of such a strong debate, however, countless attempts to interview Love In Action officials, and their wider network of affiliates were continuously denied, unfortunately thwarting our wishes to allow them to tell their personal stories in detail :-(

The documentary will premiere in 2010.

There's nothing wrong with being gay - you can't fix what isn't broken.

California senator Ted Lieu has introduced a law to prevent forcing minors into this. Perhaps other states will follow.

It will never "get old" until people stop doing this to their kids. (Or even to themselves as adults, yikes.) Yes, there are very few examples such as (surprisingly) lesbian activist Joanne Loulan dating a man. But the point is that she let it happen, she didn't do it because someone told her she should, nor was she fighting off desires for women. She just went with her feelings, that's as it should be. You wouldn't tell a heterosexual he/she should "try" a gay relationship. Let it be.

As much as I support the documentary and despise the whole "ex-gay" thing the whole "be who you were meant to be" thing is getting old. Fact is people can love men and somehow find themselves happy growing old with a woman, or love women and find themselves happy growing old with a man. Coming to terms with the fact that you like the same sex is only the first bump, there's a good chance it won't be the last. If even physical gender is malleable, how could something like sexuality not be?

John Smid @5:26 has since admitted that not only is he still gay, but after 27 YEARS in the ex-gay movement, he never saw a single person turn from gay to straight.

Granted, he's probably distancing himself from those hate-mongers because "ex-gay" isn't a profit-generating brand anymore. In fact, it's a bankrupted joke of a brand.

That being said, Smid at least admitted what the rest of us knew years ago: Being gay isn't a disease or a choice! It's who we are!

Look the malicious corporate greed of the few who ruined so many lives and cause terrible mental financial anguish to our People. It ok to be gay but not act. A proud look is wrong. A cruel mean remark to hurt another is wrong. This issue is more sensitive it may be more painful and create paranoia or nuerotic. I hope you feel strong, happy and free but the lifestyle is not good. If you my brother, sister I would say that and even myself I would refrain. In love kindness and respect.

Being Homosexual is tough god and god understand and love and protect you. We ALL struggle with some issue. I am hetro. I struggle with unkindness of humanity. And man's inhumanity to man. I just expect the kindness from people that I accord them but no return. Its a silly sturggle but it my struggle! So we are all the same and being gay does should not isolate you that is just mabye your issue.

Your ans. is a simply "supression of the truth". If you have no religion, or think there is no god, if you listen to the beating of your own heart, deep in your heart of hearts you know act is wrong. We are all endowed with a natural conscience or knowing of right and wrong but we supress it. God loves you deeply. In your heart of hearts you know. I no right to judge. There is a right and a wrong. It sexualizing the need for your Parent love & failing to develop sexual id in childhood. Love.
