US gun lobby wants 'armed officers in every school'

http://www.euronews.com/ The protest started the moment the US gun lobby spoke out. "NRA killing our kids" read the large pink banner unfurled at the press conference. The demonstrator was quickly led away by security guards.

The National Rifle Association, staunch defender of the right to bear arms, was giving its first considered response to the issue of gun security, following last week's rampage in Connecticut.

It is now calling for armed guards in every school to help prevent more massacres of children.

"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. I call on Congress today to act immediately to appropriate what ever is necessary to put armed police officers in every single school in this nation, and to do it now, to make sure that blanket safety is in place when our kids return to school in January," said the NRA's Executive Vice-President Wayne Lapierre.

The largest US gun rights lobby also wants a national database of the mentally ill and has blamed video games for promoting murder.

The NRA has been under intense scrutiny, and had said little since the atrocity until now, citing respect for "common decency".

Almost simultaneously, reports began coming in of another mass shooting, with four people dead and three injured in Pennsylvania.

The United States has been laughed at by the rest of the world for their failings for the last couple of decades. Their love of guns after numerous children were killed because a redneck mother couldn't stop her son from shooting her is just one more thing to add to the list that makes everyone laugh at the stupidity of Americans. The newest thing will be them tanking their economy with the fiscal cliff on January 1st since Congress won't be back from vacation until after it comes into effect.

So where is the argument? If those guys can't find places with unarmed people, they would simply change the type of weapon and choose another tactic. Armed enemies have never been a deterrence for attackers. This is just a crap story being told by the US weapon industry. Try logic.

Where I live you wont get an assault rifle on the market. You'll might find the russian mafia selling them, but this would be suicidal anyway. Also the substances for building effective bombs are very hard to get without exchanging personal data and the amounts are limited as well. In the states you can buy everything. And that's the problem. Americans really believe that it's a human right to buy whatever one wants to buy.

So why do you sell most of the guns to the "bad guys"? Because otherwise you'll loose the customer base in the "good guys" department. You've always sold guns to both sides. This is your business case.

I just find it hard to believe that the "crazy" didn't get fabricated after the fact. People I know do that to people all the time. Someone does something that people aren't happy with and all of a sudden the person is the worst person on the planet. Happens all day. Every day. Every where. And I shouldn't be surprised anymore, but I am, that when stuff like this hits the news people always believe the worst.

well i think these people mostly had low self esteem or had aspergers syndrom( who btw contributed(many scientists) very greatly to European domination in the last half century that is why they were able to survive with such severe social disablities). It just shows the problem with today changes in a society where only good looks (for women) and confidence (for men) are attractive while thinking diffrently and intelligence are lesser.In that way most of these People were armed just diffrently.
