@JacintaSolano get a 2 liter soda bottle. Drill a hole in the top and insert airline tubing, silicone around the tube/top to airproof. Fill bottle with 2 cups of sugar and fill to top with warm water. Add half a pack of instant yeast to bottle with sugar mixture, shake, cap and run airline to checkvalve and then into a diffuser in the tank. Presto, homemade CO2 generator....good for about 3 weeks, then repeat above!

Do you think you'll make a tutorial video on how to make a homemade CO2 generator? I think that would make a great vid.

what is that glass thing stuck on the inside top left of your tank! keep seein them around but cant seem to find out wtf it is lol

@TheFigure88 that my friend, is a co2 indicator. It has some tank water and KH standard in the bulb part. color of liquid indicates level of dissolved CO2. It really is helpful to see co2 levels at a glance, but the glass element adds to overall visual design of the tank.

also, do you mind telling me the brand/substrate you use?

@aznlilboiz The substrate is a full bag of CaribSea's FloraMax Red. I think I might have added alittle bit of Seachem's flourite as well.

do you turn off your co2 injection at night or when the light turned off? will the co2 injection effect the shrimps?
aznlilboiz 1 month ago
@aznlilboiz No, the amount of CO2 produced by a DIY system is too small to cause shrimps any problems even with lights off.
