He isn't simplifying, he's pointing out hypocrisy. As always, property rights subsume human rights, so the principle of free movement of people is eradicated where inconvenient to capital. Free movement of people is one of the prerequisites to a free market though, with workers travelling to where capital accumulates.
@knightschwartz What the HELL does THAT mean? Money doesn't BELONG to white people, money is power, money gets moved around by the people who have it, so if youre willing to say money is static with whites and not acknowledge your IGNORANCE, than your world view is DISTORTED. my advice: stop watching television you LOON.
The assertion that you make about the shrinkage of wages doesn't have anything to do with undocumented workers...the problem is that the US economy is run by big corporations who have slashed workers rights (ex. labor unions)... why not point out that many of the undocumented workers have been and continue to be exploited by ranchers, and even huge corporations who take advantage of their fragile status, which also works in their favor for greater profits.
NAFTA does not 'cut back the flow of people' and the militerization of the border was a JOKE. If the borders are wide open that makes it easier for corporations to import slave goods from the far east, easier for drug traffickers to come and go, easier for US companies to take on illegals as temporary workers with no benefits and on and on and on. That is why the globalists are driving ahead with their open border policies. A world without borders will not be like John Lennon's Imagine.
That is how countries become healthy and wealthy. Free movement of capital is only bad when giant corporate monopolies are able to close factories in the US and move production to countries where they can pay lousy wages and don't have to worry about workers rights. And free movement of people is only good if people are able to contribute to the society they are moving to, or at the very least, not become a burden on it by abusing the welfare system.
He says free movement of people = good, free movement of capital = bad, which is a ridiculous over-simplification for a supposed 'intellectual' and complete CRAP. It doesn't even make any logical sense. Free movement of capital is GOOD, so long as it involves people having the freedom to run their own farms, shops and other businesses and exchange goods, labour and services for a FAIR market price. That is REAL 'free trade', not the license to exploit that is called free trade by the globalists.

He's pushing the globalist agenda behind a thin veneer of so-called 'radical' liberalism. Like Michael Moore he blames everything on corporations and big business, which is only half the truth. He talks about 'integration' being a good thing, which is another globalist buzz-word. 'Integration' is not about equality, it is about the DESTRUCTION OF CULTURAL IDENTITY so that we all become a bland hemogenised mass of consumers and serfs on the global plantation.

Noam Chomsky is one two-faced SOB. He whines on about NAFTA having been really bad for the poor people of Mexico - which is absolutely true of course. But then he says oh but you know what those borders shouldn't really be there and there's not that many illegals coming into the USA.. That's complete BS! And what about unemployment, the destruction of industry, and wages dropping in the US because of illegal immigration? He doesn't talk about that.

THIS IS VERY SIMPLE: YOU CAN'T HAVE A FIRST WORLD NATION WITH A THIRD WORLD POPULATION. America will get more poor as it gets less european.

Militarization of the border was a sham to sell NAFTA to the people. It was a deception without intention.
Globalisation demands that America's strength be broken. NAFTA was an earlier hidden step in this agenda.
Destroying the constitution and bill of rights is globalization, too. Look out Americans NAFTA now disolves the border:
