ur still runnin the 10 bolt axle that came stock on the truck rite? i got the same truck and am doing the same thing but i have a ford 9in to go under it if the 10 bolt dont hold up. as for now im gonna try the stock axle with a mini spool. is that wat u got?

@tippi989 it's the stock 8.5 in 10bolt. i couldn't destroy it no matter how hard i tried. yours will be fine unless you plan on pushin over 400 horses.

no, it came with a four banger that i ruined by bottoming out on the interstate. the x pipe pounded the ground and cracked the head. there was no point in rebuilding that, so i built the machined and cammed motor that's in it now.

what gear ratio do you have i got 4.10 on mine but i dont think they help

Just FYI, you can take the posi unit out of a camaro or trans am and put it right in the rearend under that truck. Thats what i did anyway. Mine is a 97 with a vortec 350 and a 5-speed still running the factory fuel injection.

@tippi989 i did that with the stock bolt and a spool and i have well over 400 hp and it seems to be holding up good

@tippi989 the 12 bolt can be as strong as the ford 9 in. c-clips in 12 bolts are their weak point. get c-clip eliminators, and it's damn near bullet proof. the 12 bolt is about 4% lighter. not that you would worry about weight in this truck.
