I purchased a retract-a-gate a few weeks ago, because they advertised it like this: "When the gate is locked, no more material can be pulled from the reel so the mesh can not be easily pushed up."
Well, check out this video and see how easily my cat gets under the gate. While I don't have video of it, he also was able to crawl over and disconnect the gate from the latches. But now that he knows he can just sneak under it, he just does that.
I asked for a full refund and will probably get it, but I hope no one buys this gate for cats. There are also videos of dogs getting under and jumping over it.
I like this video because it's helpful to know that if a cat really wants to get into a room (in our house it is the loft) then the cat could do it.

I have this gate and love it. Teaching your pet to go under the gate is just a waste of money on your part. What an idiot.

Fail! Stop encouraging your cat to go under the gate you fool! I have 2 of these gates and they work great. If I called my dog and cat to come to me they would probably do the same thing, but I DONT. So they dont go under it. As far as I am concerned these are the best gates I have ever owned.

this is so ridiculous. why would anyone actually ENCOURAGE their cat to keep trying to go under the gate the put up?? I've used Retract-A-Gate for my two cats without any issue. It works amazingly well for me.

Do you want to sell yours by chance? :)

Oh man, I wish you posted this before I ordered... My cat's either jumping over it or just going under like yours. Now we put a scat-mat on the other side just so he won't attempt to jump over or go under and get shocked. But yeah, we were hoping the fence would've been enough...!
