Crown Victoria is a good car from the start. Body on frame construction is tough to break. Here's why. In a body on frame car, the body and frame of the car are separate units. This means that in serious crashes, the body of the car may get screwed up, but the frame itself will remain intact.
This is one reason why cops (many, many rochester cops I've talked to) love the Crown Vic- It just takes it!
