Hahah, I can't wait to see my classmates' reaction when I show them this video while having my presentation about Botulism on Thursday. It will be PRICELESS!!
@Altoclarinets I personally think that the obvious use of a "scratchy old film" filter from After Effects makes it funnier. But this is from a graduate science film program so it is not meant to be outright parody. I think it works the way they reference some of those "cheesy" tropes but not all. But that is just me. And I hate the way YT doesn't let you edit comments.
It has the appearance of a project for a health class or something... the real PSA's always had scary music and far, far scarier announcers (ntm the aging "effect" on the vid is pretty obvious)
@karaloyal and yet it is not a faux educational film... it IS an educational film, yet has this captivating ersatz quality which actually makes the movie more compelling to watch. In short, I think it is brilliant.
@Altoclarinets it also means tasteless, and as it is rather cheesy (though informative) a faux educational film about a toxin that tends to be present in bland, non-acidic foods, the tone of the film is rather perfect. It is also very funny.
I can't remember how I even found this. This is, without a doubt, the most insipid thing I have ever seen in my entire life. I think I mean that as a compliment.

@karaloyal well insipid means boring, so is it a compliment, an outright insult, or a malapropism?
