I believe that a lot of people fail to understand the local communities opposition towards the redevelopment. The port encompasses a nostalgia that many people are ignoring and not even trying to understand. In my local area, we have a war memorial which is both a place of respect and history. If it were to be developed into high rise apartments there would be outrage. I challenge you to think how it would effect you if redevelopment took place in your own local council.

development in that area is a good idea, but come on... this has to one of the ugliest grabs for cash Ive ever seen. Wheres the public access to the waterfront. Why are they allowed to park boats on the waterfront when they banned all boat travel in the area because of the (so-called)introduced river weed problem. If you read the concerns the council has raised for this project they are mostly justified real concerns that the public should be informed of.

The development is bringing fresh energy and money into the area. Maybe the council will actually get harts mill open with arts, culture, restaurants or a maritime museum to communicate the precious heritage, rather than worrying if you can see it from every angle? lets celebrate the change,

i agree,

there are already plenty of unused, decaying, heritage buildings around the port. These buildings are beautiful but without fresh capital being invested into the area they are going to continue to decal until they are totally useless.

The Port Adelaide Enfield Council is lame. Overshadowing and the effects of air flow are not good reasons to stop a development, since every single building in the world that is built does these things. Sure, there's a few things I can see that could be improved in the design, but I think the new development looks fantastic.

This is a fantastic development to what is currently an industrial wasteland. I don't understand why the entire Port must pay homage to Harts Mill, on the other side of the river. In any other city these people would be laughed at. It's protests like this which have made Adelaide behind even Darwin in growth.

Pfft. Screw Harts Mill, lets drop the NIMBY attitude and get some freaking progress happening. This is the New Port, not the old Preserved Port...
