@trannytrent Thank you for your response. I've also heard those same comments, which I'm sure you would agree can be really hurtful. I just don't understand why the choice to remain child-free is considered selfish, honestly. Neither choice is intrinsically better than the other and they are both equally valid. If anything, I think it's selfish to try to coerce your partner into doing anything they don't feel comfortable with, including having kids that the other person isn't ready for.
I appreciated the way you talked about the pressure that a partner who isn't interested in having children experiences to change their 'wrong' perspective. From my experience, that pressure has often come with accusations of selfishness, self-centeredness, and a general look of "what's wrong with you?".
