How NOT to shoot a flint lock pistol

Should you have the opportunity to go shoot an old style flint lock pistol remember these safety tips:
1) Do not use too much powder
2) Use the correct type of ammunition
3) Use the correct material for wadding

The result of this accident was seven stitches on his cheek, a scratch on his glasses and worst of all, this video being passed around to everyone who knows him!

I'm glad he wasn't severely injured. It's pretty easy to make a mistake with guns, especially when you're concentrating on making a video, not firing the weapon.

Now, if he loaded the weapon improperly, well, perhaps he got off easy.

It can be easy for someone to take these weapons as toys or old junk technology but they once Did and Still Can put you underground !

@osallent Im gonna back his theory up. Either that or he loaded way to much pyrodex. Either way a bad mistake. Always take care when shooting blackpowder. Its extremely dangerous IF NOT USED PROPERLY

And do not SMOKE around it my friend had to learn this the hard way.

It looks like he used smokeless powder. Notice there is barely any smoke. Black powder would have thrown a nice cloud of smoke, not that tiny bit of smoke you see here.

He is lucky that thing didn't blow up and kill him. Never use smokeless powder in a black powder firearm.

The excess of black powder is thrown away without burning due to the low velocity of deflagation. The modern-smokeless powder can destroy the barrel. Yes, I know what I'm talking about, I got some few modern replicas
