Fuel for the return trip can be produced on Mars. Look up "The Case for Mars" by Robert Zubrin, where he shows how a small nuclear reactor and six tons of liquid hydrogen launched from earth can produce over a hundred tons of LOX/methane.

...like everything that relies on satellites, GPS, cable tv, the goddamn internet ur using right now!, basically all modern communications, countless medical devices like MRI tests, transportation safety. . .and well, i could go on &,on forever, but lets just say almost every aspect of ur life has been improved in some way by space tech & exploration.

Is that really a waste of money? B/c it seems to me that if anything it has benefited man way more than u.

This would be a TV show. That means it'd be done by non-government businesses for profit.  That is, it will MAKE money. . .NOT spend (or at least make much more money than spent).

And that, of course, means at least some positive economic growth.

So whats the problem?
