This video is an excerpt from a rally organized by MoveOn in Austin, TX as part of the International Day of Action on November 17, 2011. The "We Are the 99%" rally was held at Little Zilker Park adjacent to Zilker Elementary School.
Among the speakers that day, local attorney John Goldstone addressed the crowd with his solution to the menace of encroaching corporate power -- a constitutional amendment declaring that "corporations are not people."
To counter the ill-begotten power of corporations to own the system, Goldstone says we should deny them the constitutional rights originally created for people; set term limits for senators and congresspeople; set limits on campaign contributions, and stop the revolving door for regulators and politicians.
The guy is reading his speech off an iPhone. Interesting.
The Supreme Court declaring that corporations are people is the worst decision in the history of the court. I like the idea of public campaign financing, with a set amount for each candidate- no more, no less. With social media, it's much easier to reach folks through unpaid media.
An underlying issue that I think is causing this is the loss of civics and citizen responsibility taught in our schools.
Thanks for the video. Well done.

Good video! (high def, camera angles, zooms, etc.) - Thank you.
Having spent some time in Zuccotti Park in NYC, it's great to see people with similar thoughts and message making their voices heard in Texas (Austin) as well.
