Washington state. Two ships passing through the Hood Canal Bridge. This is a draw bridge, a little over two miles long, sitting right on the water except for the front and the end of the bridge. The bridge is constructed so that the two center panels are lifted and then moved in each direction of the bridge parallel to the bridge deck to make way for the passing large marine craft. The small craft passes under each open end of the bridge.

  • @SteveCarras The bridge received some TLC a couple of years ago. It was closed to traffic during the construction. There was a temporary ferry run across the Hood Canal during the construction.

  • Neat..went across it in 1998.
