ABOUT THE ARTIST: The Sacramento Bee wrote: "Cory Hall played two works of towering artistic content and difficulty with a power and a finish that were startling. Hall was all over the keyboard but always conscious of the magic the notes were designed to evoke. It was an impressive performance." CORY HALL (b. 1963) is a retired concert artist, college professor, and church organist who currently devotes his time to making YouTube videos and composing. He wishes to inspire and offer advice to aspiring pianists and musicians worldwide via videos with his performances and tutorials. It's really a yamaha disclavier and he's just incredible at hand syncing! haha.. wow you are really a great player and at such a young age... awesome job!
Hi Cory--it is Great to hear this--as it is one of Joplin's lessor known pieces---and possibly is an excerpt from Joplin's Lost Opera---a Guest of Honor---have you thought of playing the Overture to Treemonisha ??---it is a great overture but also works well as a piano piece--Love You're Playing Cory-!!-Sincerely Peter
Cool...I didn't realize it was 6/8 time until I found it in my Ragtime Showstoppers book. I remember hearing a whistler perform this tune in Sedalia, MO and have a video of it on my channel. It is actually quite fun to play too. I'm glad you recorded it as it is an ususal time signature for Joplin, and your playful version is great!
