Jeremy (1973) with Robby Benson
Composed by Lee Holdridge

I have a blue balloon, a happy tune
Love enough to last me all through the afternoon
I have a New York Times, fourteen dimes
And explanations for the most profound nursery rhymes.

Before the rivers run dry,
Before the last sad goodbye
Let us be kind to one another
We can try.

So don't just throw your love about
It's not too late to find out
Before the sand has all run out
of the hour-glass.

The carnival is here, the clowns appear
Plastic painted people hold each other near
Hopes are always high, they echo off the sky
When it's over It's just the lonely sound of goodbye.

Before the rivers run dry,
Before the last sad goodbye
Let us be kind to one another
We can try.

So don't just throw your love about
It's not too late to find out
Before the sand has all run out
of the hour-glass.

Too late to hide it now, it's all around us now
Oh how I want you girl To lie beside me now.
While there still is time and all my poems still rhyme
Let me love you now, we can drink the good, good wine.

Before the rivers run dry,
Before the last sad goodbye
Let us be kind to one another
We can try.

So don't just throw your love about
You and me, had last find out,
Before the sand has all run out
of the hour-glass.

  • I saw this film when it was released in 1973: Never forgot it. . .just a simple, gentle love story, beautifully executed.

    "Blue Balloon" fits it perfectly

  • Every time I hear this song, old days restores. Tears can't stop. How time flies and now I am lost in my own hourglass.

  • I saw this movie when I was in a teenage, and 'd never forgot it! It's a truly good movie that show us of first love,a teenager love which ones will feel through their hearts. Thanks for uploading this!

  • @schelbyrenea You are right. You missed a great and fun time to grow up as a kid. Jeremy. The Double McGuffin. Kenny and Co. The 70s and early 80s were full of fun and quirky greats and better memories than anything of today except of things like Let The Right One In.

  • i'm a 15 year old girl stuck in this era! i wish i could have experienced it first hand

  • So beautiful.Love this.Robby has such a charming sensuality.

  • Thank you so much for putting up this beautiful song. I watched the film on TV back in the 70's and it moved me to tears. Such a beautiful, gentle love story. Benson and O'Connor acted so naturally in it.
