@bijoudeaux me too--because I didn't pay all that money for shoddy services......I'm not picky but simple things such as internet access, showers, living appliances (basic) should be working
Another problematic issue is (mis)management due to incompetence and a lack of effective coordination between offices and institutions. U.W.I. and Sir Arthur Lewis Hall are in fact one institution yet there seems to be no cooperation between the two (unless their is an economic incentive) which leads to administrative mistakes for which the residents typically have to pay.
First of all, the facilities shown in the video above are there but don't work half of the time. Fans run slowly, lights go on and off, stoves don't work half of the time, internet can only be accessed through a censored proxy that does not allow Skype or various IM-clients such as MSN Messenger (foreign students will therefore have to pay for phone credit to stay in touch with their home country), showers often don't work and if they do, the water is typically cold etc. etc.
As a former resident at Sir Arthur Lewis Hall and student at U.W.I St. Augustine, I have first-hand experience with the day-to-day operation of both institutions and would strongly discourage anyone from moving into this hall! My reasons are so plentiful that mentioning all seems nearly impossible.
@emanicipation2010HP well honestly im loving the studio--however the elevators do not work---the internet problem has improved tho

@Free6969 Hi, I am curious to know how the studio at S.A.L.Hall is working out. I am thinking of any exchange 2012-13.
