At the Midwest Central Railroad there is a certain way that engineers blow the whistle at the crossing. In the video there are two different engines and two different years. The first one is the #6 in 2006 and the next one is the #9 in 1998. The way they blow the whistles in this video is what I like and when I'm an engineer I plan to blow it the same way as in the video.

  • The pattern they blow on the whistle (long-long-short-long) is pretty standard at grade crossings even on current "Class One" railroads, although each engineer has his own slight variation.
