The better guitarist from G3 was Eric Johnson, but he did more out of the band. My favorite EJ song tho... SRV

Agree. All the tapping and sweeping and whammy antics in the world can't replace great songwriting. None of the G3 guitarists has ever written something that has truly stood the test of time. I don't ever remember a great party where somebody played a Paul Gilbert or Steve Vai song. EVER.

He used it for when they played Panama by Van Halen. He used it sometimes for other songs, but ive only seen him use it like twice, ever.

I'm gonna give you that one right there. JF more versitial in genre wise ( he can play in a funk, blues, rock, pop groove and fit right in). His phrasin' is Off the chain but JM's imo is better not because he's techical like JF but because he's got that spice I personally look for in music that i play/ listen to
