Highlights from the 1995-1996 Buffalo Sabres season.
While ultimately not qualifying for the Stanley Cup playoffs that season, the Sabres won the hearts of Buffalonians by earning their moniker "the hardest working team in hockey."
During the 1995 offseason, the Sabres went into full rebuilding mode, jettisoning superstar Alexander Mogilny, playmaker Dale Hawerchuk, former All Star Grant Fuhr, penalty killer Wayne Presley, and trading during the season players such as reliable Doug Bodger, and veterans Yuri Khymlev and Dave Hannan. Still, the team rallied around their all stars Pat LaFontaine and Dominik Hasek, and with the likes of Brad May, Rob Ray, Matthew Barnaby and newcomer Mike Peca, and coach Ted Nolan, Buffalo put forth one of the most entertaining and hard fought seasons in Sabre history.
Cool video but just to point it out, Fuhr was traded during the prior season to LA in the deal that brought Zhitnik to the Sabres.
